Phenix
Optical & Closed-Cycle Cryostats by Oxford Cryosystems (GB)
Overview
The Phenix cryostat is a closed-cycle helium system engineered for advanced materials science and crystallography applications, delivering precise temperature control between 12 K and 290 K. It employs a two-stage Gifford–McMahon cryocooler that ensures stable, cryogen-free operation with no helium consumption. The system includes a Kapton-windowed radiation shield and 20 mm chromium-plated copper sample mounts, enabling rapid cooldown, accurate temperature measurement at the sample stage, and seamless integration with X-ray diffraction setups. Fast cooling reaches 20 K in about 40 minutes and 12 K in roughly 60 minutes, while warm-up to ambient temperature occurs within 45 minutes.
