HF-STM
Cryogenic Low-Noise Amplifiers by Stahl-Electronics (DE)
Overview
The Stahl-Electronics HF-STM is a broadband cryogenic buffer amplifier designed for the detection of extremely small currents generated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) tips or other sensitive sensors. It operates from room temperature down to liquid helium temperatures (4.2 K) and uses GaAs semiconductor technology to maintain high stability and low noise across a wide range of conditions. The amplifier’s input signal passes through a bias-T network, and the high-frequency component is buffered to a low-impedance output (nominally 50 Ω). The compact device is UHV-compatible, supports LC resonance enhancement for improved sensitivity at fixed frequencies, and includes a plug‑and‑play room‑temperature control unit.
